Artist Notes
It’s late in the season so we assume all the flowers will be gone high in the mountains. Still, we are going to give it one more try, after all this is the last time the gondola lift to Leiterli will run before they prepare for the busy winter season. It is our last chance to get to the top in comfort! When service resumes after this week people will be dressed in thick winter coats and ski pants and bring along their skis, snowboards and boots. They aren’t too interested in alpine flowers.
Along with all the birds migrating to the south we also see some butterflies doing the same. Hundreds of Red Admirals are flying over the mountain pass towards the south. We even see a Dark Clouded Yellow (Colias crocea) butterfly on its foodplant: Common kidneyvetch.
